Newcastle Spring

Newcastle Spring

Scenes from a Beach #1
Newcastle Island Provincial Park, Vancouver Island, BC.

Newcastle Island is literally a stones throw away from downtown Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
That an Island like this, left to its natural state, save for some well maintained trails and a campground, can exist so close to modern civilization is almost unbelievable. A true jewel and an example of the commendable foresightedness of the provincial planners. A sea shore walk quickly removes the sound of the city, less than a kilometer away. Spring blooms add another dimension of colour to the sand and rocky shoreline.
