At Home in the Forest
To this day, I still don't know why she stayed put for so long,
After crossing my path in front of me a few minutes before, I decided to circle around to another location to see if a photograph was possible. It was.
She had settled herself down under a canopy of trees and looked quite comfortable. I approached very slowly, talking quietly. She was quite unperturbed. I stooped low and kept moving forward. She only looked at me now and then and just stayed put. I had to take off my pack to retrieve the camera, I kneeled down fully expecting her to become too nervous to stay.
But stay she did. I took several frames of her. During this one she had glanced off, perhaps she had heard something; she was in the perfect position with the sun hitting just right. Click.
And she stayed there all through my retreat from her.
