The Garry Oaks Meadow

The Garry Oaks Meadow

It's been called Victoria's last best kept secret. And maybe it is.
The Garry Oaks in this meadow are being protected by the work of many volunteers who devote hundreds of hours tending the meadow in which the trees exist. The Camas grows naturally there but is being nurtured and groomed, promoting its growth. The result is a stunning display of purple covering several hectares of hillside. It only lasts about two to three weeks each year but is a true spectacle of spring.
